New Customs Regulations

Effective October 7, 2002, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will implement the Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS), which is a penalty system designed to address new trade realities and to increase compliance of customs regulations.

All exporters are required to complete and submit an Export Declaration (B13A) for goods that are valued at CAN $2,000 or more, destined to any country, other than the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. You are also required to complete an Export Permit for controlled, prohibited and regulated goods destined to various countries.
